Davis Tops Freiman In MWL Home Run Derby

FORT WAYNE (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Khris Davis of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers outhomered the TinCaps' Nate Freiman 11-8 in the finals Monday night to win the Midwest League All Star Game Home Run Derby at Parkview Field.

Freiman over the three rounds actually hit more home runs that Davis 26-25. including twelve in the first round, but fell short in the finals.

Garrett High School's Spencer Burns, the Hometown Hitter entry, hit one home run in the first round and went out there.

The TinCaps' Danny Payne tied Beloit's Aaron Hicks for first in the Outfield Throwing portion of the Skill Competition, while Great Lakes infielder Christian Lara won the Infield Throwing portion, and Max Stassi of Kane County, Chun Chen of Lake County, and Tyson Van Winkle of South Bend shared first in the Catcher's Throwing segment.

All Star activities continure Tuesday with the free Fan Fest at Grand Wayne Center at noon and then the All Star Game itself at 7:05 at Parkview Field.
