Fort Wayne, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) - An era ends Wednesday with the last day of school at Fort Wayne's Elmhurst High School and a special broadcast to mark the event.

The special "My Elmhurst" airs at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 9th on WPTA 21Alive, Digital 21-1.

The 79-year-old school is closing as part of a budget-saving reorganization ordered by the Fort Wayne Community School board.

INC News anchor Melissa Long takes us back to the school's beginnings in 1931, and talks to alumns spanning several decades about their vivid remembrances of the south Fort Wayne school.

And she looks at the final year, the difficult decision to close Elmhurst and the painful reaction from the school's loyal supporters.

And as a grad herself, Melissa offers her own fond memories of her days as at Elmhurst. It's a program you'll want to watch, and record.
