NEW HAVEN, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Construction is finally set to begin on New Haven's Jury Pool.

The controversial $4 million project will expand the pool by adding a competition pool and 6,000 square foot leisure pool.

Homeowners will pay an additional $10 a year in taxes for the pool.

Parks department officials say they hope the new facility will bring in more money.

Supt., New Haven & Adams Townships Parks Mike Clendenen says, “This new facility will come closer to breaking even, though we are providing a service and we don't always break even. The previous pool was such a loss our budget cuts couldn't maintain that and we know it's important to have this type of facility for the community. So, this will come closer to making sure this is open for a lot longer, for many years to come.”

Construction is set to begin in June and be complete in June of 2011.

Jury Park will be closed during construction.
