WASHINGTON (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Unlike Tuesday very public ceremony of the signing of the Health Care Reform Bill, the President, behind closed doors, signed an executive order Wednesday prohibiting federal funding for abortions.

At one point, the abortion issue nearly derailed the health care bill.

But then the President Obama promised the executive order to Pro-Life Democrats to sway their votes for passage of the bill.

White House officials say the executive order reaffirms longstanding restrictions on federal funding of abortion in the new law.
