FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Indiana's Attorney General says a new lawsuit challenging the fairness of the state's school funding formula is a bad idea that will Rob Peter to pay Paul.
Republican Greg Zoeller visited Fort Wayne Thursday morning.
Three school corporations, including Hamilton Southeastern Schools near Indianapolis, want to strike down a school funding formula they say doesn't give enough money to faster growing districts.
Zoeller says it amounts to the state suing the state. Plus, he says the courts have already tried similar cases.
Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller says, “That they somehow have not been either fully funded or the funding formula somehow is detrimental to them. I see every school corporation making some difficult choices and cutting, because of the economic crisis.”
Zoeller maintains people who have a beef with school funding need to lobby the Indiana "legislature" for a more equitable system.
