FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Many schools around town will participate in the 67th Annual WOWO Fire Drill Wednesday.

The exercise happens during National Fire Prevention Week.

Lane Middle School will officially host this year's edition.

Students will make the call, sound the alarm that broadcasts over WOWO’S air waves and conduct a heavily produced simulation featuring fake smoke, strobe lights and a staged response by the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

Students will not only learn what to do in a fire but will also know what firefighters do to keep people safe everyday.
