FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Police were working to get a barricaded subject out of a home near Calhoun Street Thursday morning.

They were at the home in the 100 block of Esmond St. from 1:30 a.m. until around 6:30 a.m. Police were called out on a reported domestic disturbance and once on the scene, learned that Elgin M. Davis, 27, had confronted an ex-girlfriend who he barred from having any contact with per a court issued "No Contact" order.

Officers learned that Davis had threatened to shoot the female. After an hour of unsuccessfully resolving the standoff, EST and CRT teams were called, but before they could arrive, the female was able to safely escape the home.

CRT team members attempted to communicate with the suspect but their attempts were refused so the EST team use several rounds of gas, but Davis still refused to exit. A robot was deployed which found Davis hiding in the basement. Shortly thereafter, Davis surrendered to members of the EST team without incident. No firearm was discovered and there were no injuries.

Officers had Calhoun St shut down to traffic between Wildwood and Pontiac St.
