FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Fort Wayne police believe the explosion of a car early Wednesday morning is caused by an improvised explosive device.

The explosive device is similar to the ones seen in attacks on soldiers in Afghanistan. Police continue to work closely with the ATF and the FBI on the explosion that went off just after 1 a.m. in the Coliseum Park Apartment complex.

The IED caused damage and is equivalent to that of a half pound of TNT. Bomb technicians and Fort Wayne firefighters found the front windshield of the 1999 Buick on the roof of a two story building and the rear windshield on top of another nearby building.

The incident remains under investigation. No one was hurt.
