MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (21Alive) - A massive pileup along Interstate 94 on Wednesday left a traffic nightmare for hours.

Around 3:30 p.m. EST, 15 semi-trucks and multiple other vehicles wrecked some 60 miles from Chicago.

At least three people died and dozens more were injured in the crash.

More are feared dead as many cars are stuck in the wreckage.

Thousands more waited in frigid temperatures for hours.

Around 9:30 p.m., westbound lanes of I-94 opened to help alleviate traffic.

It is unclear how long it could be for eastbound traffic to be rerouted and for the crash to be cleaned up.

21Alive's Melissa Long spoke with stuck motorist Andrew Reyntjes of Detroit on Wednesday night. He, his wife and twin 13-month-old daughters waited 3 hours on I-94 as they approached the pileup. Click on the video icon to hear Reyntjes say what he saw.
