FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Fort Wayne Community Schools is honoring its sister schools partnership this week by hosting students from China.

About 20 students from Xinhe High School in Taixhou, China, are spending more than a week in the Summit City.

The Chinese students are meeting their American counterparts from North Side High School, a sister school to Xinhe.

While here, the students have visited local businesses and attended Monday night's school board meeting.

The students exchanged gifts with district leaders, presenting the board with Chinese tapestries.

The students even performed the Chinese national anthem following the American Pledge of Allegiance.

Taizhou is a sister city to Fort Wayne, and North Side is partnered with Xinhe because of North Side's global studies & world languages program.

The board approved a group of North Side students to visit their sister city students in China next Summer.
