FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Renovations on Snider High School started Monday, as crews brought in the first set of modular classrooms students will use for the next year and a half.

Three of 20 modulars, 900 sq. ft. in size, paraded down Vance Avenue into the school's service drive and neighboring Glenwood Park Elementary School parking lot. The modulars will be installed on the practice football field between the football locker room and Bowser Field.

Construction crews also began doing site work on the practice football field.

Roughly 200 students at a time will have classes in the modulars, Fort Wayne Community Schools officials said at an informational meeting on the Snider renovation plan in April. The portable classrooms will be heated and air-conditioned and have restrooms and a tunnel-like entrance.

Students will use the modulars through December 2015; and different departments will rotate in and out of the modulars as different stages of renovations are completed.

The $40 million Snider plan is part of a larger FWCS building project approved by voters in a May 2012 primary referendum.
