FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Retiring Allen County Superior Court judge Stephen Sims received one of the state's highest awards at his goodbye party Friday night.

Sims was surprised with the Sagamore of the Wabash for his distinguished service to Indiana.

"It's humbling," Sims says. "I was told to come tonight, and not ask too many questions. For a judge, that's hard. But I followed that routine through the night.

Sims has spent 31 years in the Allen County justice system. He was elected to three terms as Allen County prosecutor beginning in 1982.

In 1996, Sims took the judicial bench, serving in juvenile court and the Allen County Juvenile Center up through Friday.

Sims looks forward to spending more time with his grandchildren during his retirment.
