FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - A motorcyclist is in critical condition after crashing his bike near the campus of the University of Saint Francis on Tuesday night.

Police say the driver was heading northbound in the 1300 block of Leesburg Rd. when he wrecked. Witnesses tell police the man failed to negotiate a curve and struck a curb, lost control and crashed into a light pole.

Emergency personnel found the driver unconscious and unresponsive at the scene. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators attribute speed and alcohol to causing the crash. The man was not wearing a helmet, police say.

A portion of Leesburg Road remains closed for the investigation.
