NEW HAVEN, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - The future of a Fort Wayne charter school remains in doubt after a public school district decides against sponsorship of the chater.

Officials with Timothy L. Johnson Academy, 7908 S. Anthony Blvd., had hoped the East Allen County Schools board would vote to sponsor the charter school after Ball State University pulled its support for the charter school earlier this year.

The EACS board declined the offer Tuesday night.

"After much consideration and with valuable imput from our constituents," the board released in a statement, "The East Allen School Board has decided not to sponsor the academy at this time. We believe that the focus of the district's resources must remain on developing and improving our current school system."

It is not clear what the future holds for Timothy L. Johnson Academy.
