NEW HAVEN, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - East Allen County Schools is forced to find a new superintendent sooner than expected with the announcement that Karyle Green, Ed.D., will resign on Friday.

"The East Allen County School Board and Dr. Karyle Green have mutually agreed to part ways effective March 1, 2013 rather than continuing through the remainder of her contract, which expires in June 2014," the district says in a statement released after the meeting.

Green handed out a letter to board members in January saying she intended to stay EACS superintendent through the end of her contract, she reserved the right to leave before then, according to The Journal Gazette.

No reason was given for Green's abrupt departure, but the district says it will share a plan for the superintendent position, including on an interim basis, at the school board's next meeting Mar. 5.

"The school board has a new perspective on the goals, priorities and best interests of East Allen County Schools," the district says. "The board is intent on looking forward, and believes that this decision is in the best interest of the students, teachers and schools."

Green was hired as EACS superintendent in July of 2009, having previously served as a principal in South Bend Community School Corporation.
