FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - A Fort Wayne pup is recovering after surgery to remove an embedded collar from the dog's neck.

Nine-year-old Puggle was dropped off at the Waynedale veterinarian Tuesday. Puggle was found wondering a neighborhood in Northwest Fort Wayne.

Puggles was taken to Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control, where she spent more than an hour in surgery to remove the chain from around her neck.

Puggle is expected to heal, and is healthy outside of her neck injury, Animal Care & Control officials say.

"We understand that there are circumstances outside of an individual's control," Amy Jo Sites, deputy director of Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control, says. "We also understand that sometimes education is the best option for pet owners and maybe they just weren't aware."

Anyone who may know whom Puggle's owners are is asked to call Animal Care & Control at (260) 427-1244.

If Puggle is not claimed or cannot take care of the dog, Puggle will be put up for adoption after she has fully healed.
