KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Kosciusko County officials are currently investigating the death of a Warsaw man who was stuck after crashing his moped Sunday night west of Pierceton, Indiana.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded to the 5000 block of Pierceton Rd., just west of County Rd. 600 East Sunday night a little after 10 p.m. after receiving a report of a moped crash. Arriving responders found Brandon D. Hollon, 23, Warsaw, in the roadway with severe injuries after being struck by a passing motorist.

Kosciusko County F.A.C.T./fatal crash investigators stated that Hollon had been traveling westbound on Pierceton Rd., and for an unknown reason had lost control of his moped and crashed.

A witness located at a near-by residence, immediately called 911 and went to check on the status of Hollon. Officers stated that second vehicle, driven by Lance W. Lucas, 23, Mentone, approached the crash scene westbound in his 1999 Jeep Cherokee and swerved to avoid Hollon’s moped that was in the roadway. He then inadvertently ran-over Hollon who was lying in the middle of the roadway.

Kosciusko County Coroner Michael Wilson stated that Hollon was pronounced dead from massive blunt force trauma and that the crash is still under investigation by his office and the Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. Team.

The Kosciusko County Coroners’ Office and F.A.C.T. Team were assisted by members of the Pierceton Fire Department, Multi-Township E.M.S., Winona Lake Police Department and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
