What looked bad for employees of Your Friends and Neighbors in July, got even worse in October when the group home provider swiftly closed its doors after the state cut off Medicaid funding.

Frustrated employees, some thousands of dollars behind in back pay, were frustrated that they might never see that money.
The amounts owed to employees vary from hundreds of dollars to one woman who's owed nearly 40-thousand dollars in expenses and sick pay.

While over a hundred of them have filed claims with an attorney, they've also taken the fairly unique step of filing a corporate lien against the property and earnings of Your Friends and Neighbors.
As of this week, 389 liens are on file in Allen County.

John McGauley, Allen County Recorder said, "this is the first one that we can think of where a company just shut down, for all intents and purposes. This has been kind of an avalanche of complaints filed. This puts them in line behind others that are owed money by the company, they're not at the top of the list, but they're pretty high"

A facebook page has also been established to help former YFN employees navigate the legal road and the unemployment process. A number of employees have found work with other agencies, but clearly it's hard to fully register the long term impact after the closing.

We also have had a number of complaints about pushy survey calls to this area. The calls come from the 646 area code, that's New York City and a company called Universal Survey.

We found complaints against them going back a number of years, including many on the Do Not Call list... Keep in mind, Political calls, charities and survey companies are exempt from the list and Universal bills itself as a marketing/political survey company. Their website even says they've been the victims of fraud by others claiming to be from their company. The bottom line, you can still file a complaint with the FCC if you feel the company is out of bounds.
