For several years, Shandra Wren has been taking her family pictures with the Picture People in Glenbrook Mall. In January, she purchased a package and CD with all the pictures for $75, but when she took the disc to a local photo shop, she had a surprise waiting for her.

"the disc didn't work and there was not a copyright release", said Shandra Wren.

Most photo shops will not print pictures without the release, Shandra wasn't too concerned until she realized the Picture People had closed their Fort Wayne location and she had trouble contacting anyone with the company.

"I dialed and dialed and never got a person. When I emailed the company, I didn't get a response"

We also had difficulty reaching a person at the company, so we tried a different location, the person told us the company's headquarters were in a state of "transition", but told us if we emailed the company we would get a response, so that's exactly what we did.

Sure enough, the next day, Shandra received an email requesting more information, within 2 weeks she had her copyright. The pictures on the CD also printed clearly. We found the Picture People has locations all around the United States, but none within 60 miles of Fort Wayne.

As for Shandra, she's pleased she ended up with everything she paid for in January, even if it took longer than expected.

"I'm just glad it's all over and I can print my pictures", said Shandra.

Shandra's ordeal isn't that uncommon with businesses closing locations, consumers need to be persistent and if they can't reach the company, complaints should be directed to the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office.
