Over a year ago, Tonya Yates signed up with a California company called Alwaysonvacation.com to help her with renting her condo points through Bluegreen Resorts. The salesman spoke broken English and Tonya tells us most of what he promised from "no calls" at home to being able to rent her unit didn't happen. After a year she figured she was just out her points and $250 dollars, but a surprise came in November.
"I look and there's a $399 dollar charge on my credit card. I thought, what's this?, Tonya said.
Alwaysonvacation.com charged her credit card $399 for an "automatic" renewal, Tonya said not only did she not agree to this, but when they e-mailed her a notice of the renewal, it was sent to the wrong address that included SCBglobal, instead of SBCglobal. This despite numerous e-mails over the past year. Her town of Kendallville was also badly misspelled.
Tonya disputed the charge with her bank and after seeing the forms provided by Alwaysonvacation.com, they reversed the charge.
"the bank saw the documents and credited the account, I thought it was done", said Tonya.
It wasn't, two weeks ago, Tonya received a call from an Arizona attorney asking for the funds or the account would be turned over to collections. We had about as much luck speaking to someone at Alwaysonvacation as Tonya did.
After the company didn't return our first 3 messages, we finally caught their sales director who told us the company wouldn't discuss a customer's account. We asked how they could justify the complaints they've received and he quickly hung up. But we found many others customers willing to voice their displeasure with the way the California company does business.
We found numerous complaints about the company, ranging from pushy sales calls to bad customer service. The Better Business Bureau gives them an F Rating with 20 complaints over the past 2 years.
Tonya has filed complaints with two state attorney generals and the Arizona attorney had stopped pursuit of her account citing "a dispute". Tonya hopes this is the final chapter of her ordeal. The attorney said the firm was assigned the account and didn't pay for it.
"I just want them to leave us alone, I should get my 1st years money back, but I've written that off, I just want them to leave us alone"
