Child Taken To Hospital With Critical Injuries

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A four-year-old little girl caught in the middle of a violent domestic disturbance is fighting for her life.

Just before 2:30 p.m. Monday, Fort Wayne Police were called to a home in the 1000 block of Dupont Road in response to a domestic disturbance.

Once police arrived, they discovered a four-year-old girl with a severe head injury. The girl was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

"We know that there was a disturbance prior to the arrival that involved people in the home," says Fort Wayne Police Department Spokesperson Liza Thomas.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the child's condition had not improved. Police aren't yet saying how she was injured or exactly what her injuries include.

"We do have a strong suspect at this time," says Thomas. "However, we are still in the midst of an investigation with this incident."

The 4-year-old girl was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Investigators are currently interviewing all parties involved.

The incident is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and Allen County Prosecutors office.
