FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - More than 100 people lined up looking for work at a Seasonal Job Fair at Jefferson Pointe Shopping Center Friday evening.
Old Navy, Aeropostale, Ann Taylor Loft and Charming Charlie were all looking for new part-time employees.
"A lot of the jobs here are saying that they're looking for help during the holidays, so whatever helps me and my son out, then I'll take it," said Fort Wayne Resident Nisha Lipscomb.
Old Navy at Jefferson Pointe was looking for 20-40 workers.
Aeropostale was looking for 5 workers at their Jefferson Pointe location and 50 workers at their Glenbrook Mall location.
Ann Taylor Loft at Jefferson Pointe was looking for 5 workers.
Charming Charlie at Jefferson Pointe was looking for 3 workers.
Among the four stores, about 80-100 people will soon have part-time work.
All of the jobs are seasonal but a few new hires will end up being offered more permanent positions.
"Go in with your A game and make the real sale. Make them feel comfortable that you know what you're selling," said Fort Wayne Job Seeker Anita Hayden.
Anita Hayden is full of advice. Her family owned a printing company for 40 years in Fort Wayne.
However, they recently had to close due to the economy.
"I worked for Kmart in there Men's Department... I worked for Sears Telecatalog when it was over on Rudisill... Just selling products through our shop, making sure that if they come in for letterhead, (you say) can I order envelopes, business cards to match. Selling the business," Hayden explained, while reciting her retail experience.
"It's an opportunity to really broaden my horizon," explained University of Saint Francis Student Matthew Zpyrka.
Hiring managers told job seekers that they would begin calling back potential employees in about ten days.
