Tampa, Fla. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- While Hurricane Isaac temporarily paused the Republican National Convention in Tampa it was business as usual today as The Grand Old Party set their platform.

The platform includes positons on a number of key issues education, guns, jobs and taxes to name a few.

Abortion is always a debate getting both parties heated Republicans on their platform voting to ban all abortions.

Indiana's NewsCenter spoke with Republican State Senator Tom Wyss who is in Tampa as an alternate delegate for the state and is pro-life and he says there should be exceptions on abortion. "I've always said in the case of rape or incest or the life of the mother," says Wyss. "I am agreeable that that could be done. Some people have told me that's not a good position, but again, it's one that I think is rational."

Wyss also talked about the economy saying President Obama had his chance to right the ship. "I'm not going to sit here and say he didn't inherit a mess, but I'm saying that he had his four years and like he said his first year, 'if I can't solve this within the first four years, I shouldn't be President.' And that's exactly where we're going to go this way."

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan were officially voted the top of the GOP ticket Tuesday night.
