Fort Wayne, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission opened its doors to roughly 1,200 people in need last year.
Community leaders say that's only a portion of the area's uncounted homeless population.
That's why, in conjunction with National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, the Resuce Mission is making a push of their own and it all kicked off at the Allen County Courthouse Green Tuesday.
Sr. Pastor at the FW Rescue Mission, Rev. Donovan Coley says, “I would like to see the public and the private sector coming together and pool our resources, because the answer is not in Washington. The answer is right here in Fort Wayne, Indiana."
Reverend Coley says you can also make an impact by volunteering at local agencies and organizations or by donating much-needed funds.
