Fort Wayne, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - The man who abused Sparkle, the kitten, entered a plea, Thursday and may not see any time behind bars.

22-year-old Matthew Jerome learned his possible sentence on three-charges of cruelty to an animal.

Overall he’ll have one year executed and one year of probation

But if Jerome stays out of trouble during that time and stays away from animals he may be put on work-release or home detention.

Last summer investigators say Jerome burned Sparkle's paws and singed her whiskers.

After her recovery she was adopted out to a loving home.

Jerome will be formally sentenced on January 14th.
