FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A Fort Wayne man gets the surprise of his dreams on his 25th birthday.

It's a tale as old as time—a good old fashioned birthday surprise!

“I am so excited, I can hardly believe it!” said Wanietta Stuckey.

Thursday is Corey Mort’s 25th birthday, and he has one wish.

“He said, ‘Mom don't forget to invite Beauty and the Beast,’ and I said, ‘Corey, I don't have their number,’” Stuckey laughed. “He said, ‘Mom they’ve got to come! I said, ‘Corey if I talk to them I'll invite them,’ but he has no idea whatsoever.”

For Stuckey and her son, it’s a very special celebration. At birth, Corey was diagnosed with Ring 6 Chromosome Syndrome, a rare disease where parts of chromosomes don’t replicate. Stuckey says only 15 other people in the world have it. Doctors told her, Corey wouldn't walk, talk, or make it past a year old.

“But to think that he would never walk or talk, it’s unbelievable,” Stuckey said. “And because he is now 25 years old, we have a lot more information that we can pass on to anyone who might have this disability.”

Belle, the heroine from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” was scheduled to surprise Corey at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, and at that magical time Corey was blown away!

“Oh my goodness!” Corey yelled. He gave Belle a big hug then asked, “Where’s the Beast?”

Teresa Lamping works with Stuckey. Between the two of them, they were able to rustle up a “Beauty” for Prince Corey.

“I said well my daughter's in musical theatre at the University of Arizona and I’m sure if she’s home for Spring Break, she’ll be happy to do it,” Lamping said.

Lamping says she made a phone call to Barb Richardson from Majic 95.1 FM, who made a few others calls. Before they knew it the owner of Stoner’s Funstores called and donated a “Belle” costume for her daughter for Corey’s birthday surprise. Stuckey says one of Lamping’s friends also made a “Beauty and the Beast” cake.

“Just seeing the look on his face, it's just magical,” said Momo Lamping, who played “Belle.”

“It tugs at your heart strings,” Lamping said. “It’s just beautiful and it brings a tear to everybody’s eyes. Corey’s such a wonderful young man, it’s fun to see his wishes come true.”

Life may not always be a fairy tale, but for Corey on his birthday, it was a dream come true.

“Belle came to my birthday! I love her!” exclaimed Corey.
