CELINA, OH (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced the indictments of 39 people for drug trafficking. The suspects have been indicted on 109 drug trafficking felonies. 23 of the 39 people indicted were indicted for heroin trafficking.

“Last year, Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon, Allen County Sheriff Sam Crish, and I warned traffickers that we were going to focus on the heroin problem and there would be consequences. We directed our task forces to make heroin a priority. Last month, Auglaize County arrested 17, this month we are arresting 39. The party is over for the traffickers,” stated Sheriff Grey.

Traffickers don’t realize that all agencies in the Mercer / Auglaize / Allen County areas are working together. This includes police departments who have consistently contributed information and manpower. In Mercer County, Celina PD has an officer assigned full time, the Sheriff’s Office has an officer full time, Fort Recovery, Coldwater, and St. Henry also contributes manpower. While the Sheriffs are the head of the task force in their particular county, the effort is a combined effort and would not be successful without the dedication of the police departments.
