Pop icon Britney Spears is to perform in Australia for the first time in her career later this year when she takes her "Circus" tour Down Under, it was announced Tuesday.
Spears, 27, will play six concerts in four cities beginning with a gig in Perth on November 6 before wrapping up in Brisbane on November 24, said a statement on the singer's website.
"I've wanted to tour Australia for quite some time and now it's finally happening," Spears said in the statement.
"Circus" got underway in New Orleans in March, the singer's first major tour in five years.
Spears had been due to stage five concerts in Australia during her 2004 "Onyx Hotel" tour but cancelled after suffering a knee injury while shooting a video.
Spears, who suffered myriad personal problems following her 2006 divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline, has rebuilt her career in recent months, enjoying chart-topping album success and largely positive concert reviews.
