WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.nbc33.com) Another big issue tackled in Washington this week, same sex-marriage.
The U.S. Supreme Court will look at California’s controversial Proposition 8, the law passed by a state amendment vote that outlaws same sex marriage in that state. Their decision will have sweeping implications for states across the country considering similar bans.
On Wednesday, the high court will weigh the Defense of Marriage Act focusing on a provision that defines marriage as between a man and woman for the purpose of deciding who can receive federal benefits.
