FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) - A new study done by Hunger in America shows that one in eight people in central and southern Indiana rely on food banks to put food on their tables. Of the estimated 260,000 people who require the assistance, 97,000 were children.
The folks at Community Harvest Food Bank say those numbers are consistent for northeast Indiana as well.
In the past year, Community Harvest Food Bank has provided assistance for roughly 90,000 residents in our area, most of whom needed help on a temporary basis.
