FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) - Mayor Tom Henry was also on-hand this morning with a number of city and community leaders for the ceremonial ribbon cutting of the new Rivergreenway rest node just west of the city's water filtration plant.

This project was a combined effort of the city as well as IPFW and Leadership Fort Wayne to offer joggers walkers and even pets a place to take a break and grab a drink while enjoying the downtown pathway.

"These projects are important to the citizens, they are important to the community because they add so much value to the quality of life," says Cheri Becker, Executive Director with Leadership Fort Wayne. "Whether you're a jogger or a walker or whether you're in a wheelchair you can stop here, you can get a drink. You can take a rest. You can learn a little bit about our city. It's great!"

The new rest node was a gift to the city from the 2013 Leadership Fort Wayne Project Team and features a bike rack from IPFW's Sculpture With a Purpose celebration as well as an ADA-approved drinking fountain and dog watering station.
