UNITED STATES (www.nbc33.com) – Shopping for a bargain is usually a good idea, but some bargains can end up costing you twice as much.

Ronald Knowles ran into this problem after his 96’ Cadillac was dented. Two young men approached him and offered to repair his car for $500. The aftermath was worse than the initial dent.

"[The two young men] got holes and bubbles and dents, oh this is just a terrible job,” Knowles said. “No paint whatsoever, just primer, bondo and primer."

Bill Chase of Maaco sees this kind of thing every week.

"Their job is so bad, so body shops don't just clean it up, they have to start over," Chase said. "It actually costs more because I have to undo what they did."

Ronald Knowles has been trying to get his money back, but has been unsuccessful.

"You get what we call a tail light warranty with those guys,” Knowles said. “As soon as you can't see the tail lights anymore, it's over."
