OREGON (www.nbc33.com) -- People in an Oregon neighborhood say they're now forced to "pack heat" to fight constant burglaries and vandalism, and one woman is sending a pretty strong message.
After Coy Rita Tolonen watched a brazen thief break into her home and steal a 50 pound statue, even though the family was clearly inside, she chased him and told him to drop it.
This wasn’t her first chase down. She chased down someone with a golf club in her car once. She and some Jennings Lodge neighbors are tired of the mostly petty crimes.
Tolonen says they need to know that they aren’t going to tolerate it, sp she put a sign in her windown that says “Glock Block, We Don’t Call 911”.
She’s passed the sign on to others in the neighborhood but no one else has put it up yet.
Residents in this neighborhood say the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office isn’t doing enough but Sgt. Wurpes says turning to guns, while they are legal, isn’t the answer and presents other dangers.
Other neighbors agree with law enforcement and say they would chose to call 911.
