FWPD Chief Announces Creation of Gang and Violent Crimes Unit (NBC33 VIDEO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) - Fort Wayne Police Chief Garry Hamilton was joined today by county state and federal law enforcement officials to announce the creation of a Gang and Violent Crimes Unit.

It will consist of fifteen members of the Fort Wayne Police Department as well as significant resources coming from county, state, and federal police.

The task force will also be working hand-in-hand with the FBI, ATF, and DEA in an attempt to combat violent and gang-related crimes in the Summit City.

"We know who you are, we know who your friends are, we know what type of vehicles you drive," says Chief Hamilton. "If you continue with this criminal activity you will become a focus of the Fort Wayne Police Department and these individuals that stand behind me."
