FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) - Roughly 700 tandem bicyclists will be in town for the annual Midwest Tandem Rally.

Bicyclists from 26 states and Canada have already begun converging on the Summit City for a weekend full of long and short distance rides. There will also be social gatherings and vendor booths set up at the Grand Wayne Center.

Most importantly however, it is a way for organizers to show off their home town.

"(The cyclists are) just out seeing the city," explained Anne Ellis, an chair for the event. "And just all the comments are so positive. 'The Hilton is so beautiful' and 'the flowers are so pretty.' And we're really excited because this is our hometown, and so when everybody likes it as much as we do, it's pretty neat."

Organizers are asking that if you are out driving this holiday weekend please use extra precaution due to the heightened number of bicyclists that will be on the road.
