FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- The Fort Wayne Police who attempted to serve a warrant in the predawn hours of Friday were met with resistance when they knocked on the door of a house in the 2500 block of Thompson Ave.

The Officers from the Gang and Narcotics squad were attempting to arrest Larry Hayden Jr. at just before 3 am. When they knocked on the door, Hayden told them he was armed and was not coming out.

The Officers fell back and called in the Emergency Services Team, they attempted to negotiate with Hayden but he was having none of that. As the minutes turned into hours it was decided that a few canisters of teargas lobbed into the house would get his attention. It did; and he gave himself up at just after 6 am.

Hayden was wanted a grocery list of charges some of which included robbery, intimidation, resisting law enforcement. He is currently sitting in the Allen County Jail awaiting his first court date.
