FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) – Black Friday sales are slated to start earlier this year, some as soon as Thanksgiving. While a lot of shoppers are expected to show up Thursday night after eating turkey and stuffing, a number of shoppers are crying foul.

We went around Fort Wayne today asking shoppers about their thoughts on Black Friday cutting into Thanksgiving time that has typically been reserved to spend with family.

Here is what some shoppers had to say:

Eric Wilson/Fort Wayne: "I think it's a little ridiculous for Black Friday to be on Thursday, especially on Thanksgiving Day when, you know, you should be with your family and not struggling at the stores and the prices. But I mean I guess everyone is looking for a deal."

Sam Schwersky/Fort Wayne: “You could do a little bit of both. Shop together and visit with each other and visit with the people that you've had come in for Thanksgiving and spend the holidays with."

Diane Sheets/Leo: "Thursday to me is just kind of a sacred holiday that we stop and we give thanks for the things that we have and the things that God has given to us. And if you're going to shop, Friday/Saturday is wonderful. I like to keep that day sacred."

Chad Shepherd/Fort Wayne: "I think it's good for the economy. I mean people look forward to that. It gets people moving and that's just a fun thing to do."

Chris Brooks/Orlando, FL: "I hate the fact that it's invaded Thursday now. I mean, just leave it alone, let the families stay home. I choose to not go out shopping on purpose on Thursday. I'd just rather order online or wait until another day."

Heather Hensley/Fort Wayne: "I would rather wait until after Thanksgiving just so I can spend the whole time with the family eating and whatnot and not having to feel rushed to go."

Glenn Dunlap/Fort Wayne: "I don't really have a problem with it myself, it's like to each their own. Ya know? It's a free country."

K-Mart, Sears, Wal-Mart and Macy’s are some of the stores that will be open Thanksgiving evening.
