FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) - As we enter the heart of back-to-school season, the age-old question in Indiana is once again being asked: Why can't Indiana adopt a unified start date for all of its schools?

Currently each individual school corporation manages their own schedule when it comes to start and end dates as well as special circumstances such as holidays and built-in snow days.

For years Indiana lawmakers have pushed for a state-wide unified start date for its schools, but the schools keep pushing back.
