FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) – Holiday travel is already well underway, but those flying out of Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) still need to be prepared.

While it boasts shorter waiting times than most international airports, FWA still expects an increase in traffic as the end of the year approaches. That means flyers need to plan on arriving at least 90 minutes before takeoff or two hours if your flight is on Allegiant.

Making preparations beforehand can be vital, especially if you are flying with fragile gifts or packages.

"I would recommend if you're traveling with gifts, make sure that you have your gifts unwrapped when you're going through security,” says Jessica Miller, Air Service Manager at Fort Wayne International Airport. “The TSA agents may need access to those gifts, so they may have to unwrap them to get to certain things, so it's best to leave them unwrapped - or just ship them ahead of time."

When flying with children, don't forget to pack them plenty of snacks and activities. Empty containers can be carried-on and filled-up after getting through the security checkpoint.
