FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) – In the past 48 hours, Fort Wayne has had two separate bomb threats impacting five area high schools. But this seemingly harmless prank is no laughing matter.

On Monday 19 year-old Ashley Tierney and a 16 year-old accomplice were arrested after allegedly making a bomb threat at Bluffton High School. Tuesday, a similar threat was made after a note was found at South Side High School that stated 4 bombs would detonate at South Side High School, Northrop High School, North Side High School, and Wayne High School by 7:45 Tuesday morning. Each of the four schools were searched but no bombs were discovered.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, pranks like these can have major, long-lasting consequences.

"There are serious ramifications for the person or persons responsible for this,” says Officer Michael Joyner with the Fort Wayne Police Department. “Once they are found - and I am confident they will be - we will be looking at a felony. This is something that you just cannot make go away. It’s with you for the rest of your life, so it has implications not only in terms of higher educational pursuits, but professional pursuits. This is something that employers will look at and scratch their head and wonder 'now is this a person that I would want to employ that makes these types of decisions?’"

South Side High School was vacated for a brief time this morning while crews searched for a bomb, the other three schools were not. No arrests have been made in relation to Tuesday morning’s bomb threat at this time, but the investigation is still underway.
