FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) – If you are a Noble County High School student with aspirations of becoming a firefighter, the Albion Fire Department is making it a little more affordable to do so.

Thanks in large part to a grant, the Albion Fire Department will be offering three scholarships worth $7600 each for continued education courses. Recipients would be required to sign a four-year contract to stay with the department as well as attend necessary training and accreditation courses.

As Bob Brownell, an Albion firefighter explains, this could be an opportunity to pursue or even further their dreams.

"If you've got expectations to go to school for a degree after graduation from high school, it's a great opportunity to not only serve your community but for an education. And $7600 will get you there."

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is March 15, 2014 and the recipients will be announced in early April 2014.

You can get more information to sign up for the scholarship at the department's website (www.albionfiredept.com).
