(Fort Wayne, IN) -- Operations have returned to normal status following the discovery of a suspicious package at Parkview Hospital’s Randallia campus.

A suspicious package was discovered around 4 a.m. The investigation has determined the package was part of Parkview’s tubing system that transports medications and lab samples through the hospital. On certain occasions, the tubing system can become jammed. At that time, an extra weighted tube is placed through the system to help the jammed tube reach its destination. It has been determined the extra weighted tube was the package in question.

Parkview Hospital was placed in lock down for a few hours while public safety and hospital security personnel investigated the situation to ensure the safety of patients and hospital employees.

Normal protocols were taken to address situations of this nature. All operations at Parkview Hospital are back to normal.
