MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Ball State University will draft a plan to make the entire campus smoke-free by spring 2008.

In an e-mail sent last week to faculty, staff and students, Ball
State President Jo Ann Gora said a 12-member task force will draft
the smoking ban policy.

A formal recommendation then will be made to Gora and key
administrators by December 1st.

Gora says their goal is to have the policy in place by the time
students and staff return from spring break on March 17th next
year.

She says that two-thirds of Ball State's academic departments
and the university's Staff Council approve of a ban. Two-thirds of
students who voted in a recent online poll also favored the ban.
