FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Three Rivers Festival officials have calculated how many people attended some of the festival's most important events.

If you go by sheer numbers, the most successful event was the Fireworks Finale on Saturday night.

Officials say more than 80,000 people packed downtown Fort Wayne, creating much appreciated traffic headaches.

Fort Wayne Police say more than 50,000 people lined the streets, for the TRF opening day parade.

Meanwhile, 25,000 people enjoyed the musical attractions at Headwaters Park.

Board members say the "Who's Bad Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band" did such a good job, festival goers are already calling and requesting for the band to be booked for next year.

Executives also say the free Children's Fest was successful because 11,000 parents and kids enjoyed that two-day event.

Meanwhile, food vendors say their sales were down this year, some cite the TRF Board's troubled year.

"I don't think in any way shape or form any problems that this board had early on had anything to do with elephant ear sales. I think we can look at the economy. I think we can look at the hot weather and look at those things having more control over how many elephant ears were sold over any problems we had in the board room in January ," TRF Executive Director Jack Hammer said.

Meanwhile, TRF officials are still calculating the festival's nine-day total attendance numbers.

The biggest push for next year's festival will be adding more volunteers to greet and help out festival goers.

Executives say they will also continue to incorporate ideas and suggestions from community members.
