Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels and Lt. Governor Becky Skillman update Hoosiers on approaching winter storm and the state's severe weather preparations.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - For us in northeast Indiana, the problem with big snows will pale in comparison to what the storm will likely do to central Indiana - leaving up to an inch of ice in central parts of Indiana along the I-70 corridor.

And with it, the potential is there for tens of thousands of people to be without power, not just for a few hours, but for days.

Already we're under blizzard and winter storm warnings, well ahead of the second round of snow that will start this evening and last through Wednesday. Amounts with this second round is a little less certain because some sleet and freezing rain may mix in with the snow. If all the precipitation remains snow, then totals will be significant by Wednesday, with up to 10 inches of snow. And it will become windy and brisk.

Temperatures the first half of the week will see highs in the low 20's and lows in the mid to upper teens, only slightly below average. By the end of the week, bitter cold air will slide in to place with highs in the teens and lows in the single digits.
