COLUMBIA CITY (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- It was a packed house Tuesday last night as Whitley County residents gathered to learn more about wind turbines.

The public hearing featured special guests including an Illinois family who experienced firsthand what it is like to live next to a wind farm.

The Hulthens say they lived in their dream home until 146 turbines moved in next door. Now they cope with constant noise and a shadow flicker similar to a strobe light.

Whitley County board members say the turbines would help stave off high energy costs, increase tax revenue and could create jobs.
