FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- It's another packed house this year at The 2012 Vera Bradley Outlet sale in Fort Wayne. 60,000 shoppers are expected throughout the 5 day event.

Members of the media enjoyed a sneak peek at the rows and rows of purses, bags, glasses, blankets, pencils inside the Memorial Coliseum Tuesday. Vera Bradley says close to 12,000 shoppers hit the floor for the first full day if the sale on Wednesday.

Wednesday through Friday shoppers who have purchased tickets can attend the big event. Saturday and Sunday are open to the public.

The event is not just a boost for the Fort Wayne brand, it's also a boost for the local economy. Those who work for Vera Bradley say that's a very rewarding part of the event.

"Getting to see all the visitors we bring into Fort Wayne and hearing their experiences of shopping at different stores, spending time in our restaurants, staying in our hotels," said Melissa Schenkel, Public Relations Manager, Vera Bradley.

77 semi trailers worth of merchandise is being laid out at the sale this year. About 800 people are working the event.
