FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - A Fort Wayne mother pleaded not guilty in her initial court appearance Monday morning, in a horrific case of child abuse.

Last week, hospital staff called police after 21-year-old Holly Brooks took her 2-year-old son to the hospital when he had a seizure.

But the doctors found the boy had three brain hemorrhages, burns and other marks on him.

Police arrested Brooks and her boyfriend, 40-year-old Amilcar Estrada.

They're each charged with a B-felony, Neglect of a Dependent Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

Estrada is scheduled to have his initial appearance Tuesday.
