Trial Date Set For Man Who Critically Injured 4 Year Old Girl

Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- 34-year old Jeremiah Jones appeared in courth Monday morning for a trial setting. Jones Is charged with battery with a deadly weapon resulting in serious bodily injury and criminal recklessness.

Police say during an argument in February, Jones threw a wrench at his father at a home on West Dupont Road in Fort Wayne.

The wrench hit a 4-year old girl, the granddaughter of Jones' father.

She was put into an induced coma for a week, had a skull fracture and was on a ventilator after one of her lungs collapsed.

The girl lost a portion of her brain after neurosurgeons operated to save her life.

Jones' trial is set for October 30th and he is scheduled to be back in court for a hearing September 17th.
