FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - An icy start Wednesday had Indiana State Police out working accidents up and down I-69.

Troopers were called in as early as 4 A.M. to begin responding to accidents. There was a total of 57 before 11 am including 23 property damage crashes, 27 slide-offs and seven personal injuries.

The Northeast Indiana District of INDOT had 42 salt trucks out beginning around 2 am. They say they have no worries about their salt levels. The City of Fort Wayne also had their trucks out on city streets before dawn. They're preparing to order more salt for the rest of winter.
